There is a 9-mile scenic drive you can take from Badwater in the direction of Furnace Creek. So we took it basically as a pretty way to get back to our campground. The beginning of the drive is not very spectacular -- it looks like what you saw on the main road. But then about half way through you turn a bend and there it is: The Artist's Palate. Beautiful colors of volcanic and sedimentary rock have congregated to create this lovely scene...
